In March of 2013, on the banks of the San Gabriel River in Georgetown, Texas, an 8-year-old boy ran up to a man he had just met and said seven words that would build a company.
"Coach Tim, that was the best birthday party I've ever had."
The man was Tim Masters. The party was his very first mobile laser tag event. There was no franchise system, no plan for locations across the country, no brand name anyone would recognize. Just a former Air Force veteran with a background in operations, a trailer full of equipment, and a belief that families deserved something better than the ordinary.
More than a decade later, that boy's words are still the heart of everything Freedom Fun USA does.
Tim's path to founding Freedom Fun USA was not a straight line.
He served in the United States Air Force during Operation Desert Storm, learning early the value of discipline, preparation, and leadership when the stakes are high. After his service, he spent years as a technical consultant supporting international military operations, then more than two decades at Dell in engineering, product lifecycle management, and sales leadership.
By every measure, it was a successful corporate career. But something was missing. Tim wanted to build something of his own, something that would directly touch people's lives, not just move products through a supply chain.
That "something" turned out to be joy.

When Tim ran that first event in 2013, he spent weeks preparing. Work instructions. Checklists. Operating plans. Things no customer would ever notice, but things that make the difference between an event that is fine and an event a child never forgets.
His military and operations background had taught him a simple truth: quality lives in the details.
Driving home from that first party, he realized something that would define the entire company. Freedom Fun was not in the laser tag business, or the inflatable business, or even the party business.
It was in the memory-making business.
Tim did not build it alone. His son Zack helped him prepare for that very first event, and has been part of the company every step since, growing from those early days into a leadership role as Freedom Fun expanded far beyond laser tag into outdoor movies, foam parties, interactive games, photo booths, and full celebration experiences.
What began as Freedom Party Rentals became Freedom Fun USA, and a father-and-son operation became a franchise family. The first franchise sale proved the model could work anywhere. Even a global pandemic could not stop it. When COVID-19 shut down traditional events, Freedom Fun adapted with drive-in movies and at-home fun packs, because the mission was never really about the equipment. It was about helping communities stay connected.

For a company founded by a disabled veteran, the word "freedom" was never chosen lightly.
Freedom is the reason families can gather in a park on a summer evening without a worry in the world. It is the reason kids can laugh, neighbors can celebrate, and communities can come together. Generations of Americans have served and sacrificed to protect exactly that, the simple, priceless ability to celebrate life together, in peace.
That is the connection at the core of Freedom Fun USA: the freedom so many fought to protect is the same freedom we help families enjoy, one celebration at a time. For a faith-based, veteran-owned company, that is not just a business model. It is a calling.
As the United States marks 250 years of independence, that mission feels more meaningful than ever.
Every Fourth of July, Freedom Fun USA returns to San Gabriel Park, the very place where the company began, to help provide the family entertainment for the community's Independence Day celebration. The same riverbank where a little boy changed Tim's life is now where thousands of families gather to celebrate the nation's freedom.
Tim does not see that as a coincidence. He believes God has been writing this story all along, from one boy's birthday party to a company that now helps families celebrate across the country.
From one birthday party to markets from coast to coast, the company has grown in ways no one could have predicted. But the mission has not changed a single degree since that first day on the river.
We are still in the memory-making business.

Freedom Fun USA exists to serve people. Our customers are the heroes of every story, the parents, teachers, veterans, and community leaders working to create moments their families will never forget. Our job is simply to make those celebrations stress-free, unforgettable, and meaningful.
